Food Sources
It is highly advisable to learn about the food sources of nutrients you are lacking and do you best to support the potential losses by loading up on whole, natural foods. While it may be possible in some cases to support deficiencies caused by medications with food alone, it is often unlikely given that food sources largely support the daily requirement. When the body is actively being depleted of nutrients, often caused by medications, food sources may not be enough and supplementation may be considered. Use sound judgement based on how you feel, understand the signs and symptoms of deficiency, and discuss the need for supplementation with your healthcare provider. You may also consider testing your blood for nutrient deficiencies to help determine supplement needs as well.
